Clean technology that transforms phosphorous and nitrogen in dairy farm slurry to stable commercial fertilisers
Clean technology that transforms phosphorous and nitrogen in dairy farm slurry to stable commercial fertilisers
Reducing production costs and creating new revenue streams
elentecBioAg is developing a slurry treatment system using its electrocoagulation technology (patent pending). The technology is based on more than 20 years of research and development by the directors of the company into electrochemical water treatment.
Our goal is to utilise this technology to treat dairy cow slurry, to produce locally sourced fertiliser nutrients for dairy farmers’ own use or for onward sale. The technology will reduce production costs, aid compliance with NVZ and water regulations, reduce the UK’s reliance on imported artificial fertiliser, and contribute to the UK’s net-zero agenda.
Funding for this work comes from the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs’ through the Farming Innovation Programme Nutrient Management Competition delivered in partnership with Innovate UK. The project “Circular nutrient management: transforming phosphorous and nitrogen in farm slurry to stable commercial fertilisers” runs from January 2025 to July 2027.

A strategic aim is to evolve from being a water treatment company towards becoming a resource recovery company. In working to recover nutrients (N, P) and water from agricultural ‘waste’, elentecBio partnered with Harper Adams University to trial technology on treatment of ‘Digestate’ and farm slurry.
